The Passage

from Creaks and Dogs by Lava Diva

/

about

This sort of Desert Scape came from the beginnings of a simple but brilliant bass line from Johnny-G. Adding an open tuned guitar, we got it close to finished, but just couldn't push it over the edge to be able to say, "That's IT! We're done!" We enlisted the help of a long time rocker and guitar player-turned-composer, Buck Sanders from local band Nameless. He added his brilliance and southern sensibility to it and it remains one of my very favorite collaborations. The lyrics were inspired by my friendship with the singer of one of my other favorite local bands, Laurence Lean who was from Arizona and would tell me stories of her drives back home across the desert. This song is also one on which I am particularly impressed with what Greg chose to play on percussion. Hmmm... I don't think I ever told him that. Excuse me while I make a call...
